Sertraline hydrochloride ZOLOFT and Anxiety

More and more people are diagnosed nowadays with panic disorder. The first and most troublesome symptoms of panic disorder are panic attacks. Panic attacks are considered to be a very serious physical problem that must be treated. There exist a large amount of antidepressants. Zoloft is one of such antidepressants.

Zoloft is officially approved by the Food and Drug Administration. It was introduced to the wide audience in 1991. By now it has had quite a long history. The primary cause of Zoloft usage is depression curing, panic attacks and other anxiety disorders. Zoloft returns a patient the lost chemical balance in the brain. In other words, Zoloft helps to increase the amount of serotonin which is deadly needed for the cell-to-cell message transmission.

Usually patients do not have complaints about Zoloft. In the very first moment Zoloft helps a sufferer. Some symptoms start to improve within one or two week. But the whole length of treatment from patient to patient differs (from 6 month to one year). During this time a patient should be under the very thorough examination, as it is the doctor who decides how long the course of treatment will last. But there is one typical feature of Zoloft. All at once a patient fells much better. Nevertheless it is important for such patients to carry on taking Zoloft in order to prevent attacks from returning again.

While taking Zoloft some side-effects are likely to appear, such as insomnia, diarrhea, nausea, headache, nervousness. Side-effects are quite rare; they are not common for all the patients. Moreover most side-effects are known to disappear in a short while. And even before starting the course of Zoloft treatment any patient must be properly examined. On condition that a patient has liver or kidney disease, epilepsy, maniac depression the doctor must conduct some additional tests. Otherwise a patient is forbidden to take Zoloft.

Much medical research proved that Zoloft is not addictive, even harmless. But still there are special situations that should be taken into account. First of all, one must remember that alcohol and Zoloft are incompatible. Second, Zoloft mustn't be combined with other medicine (aspirin, dislofenac, piroxicam etc.) without the doctor's permission. Such combinations may lead to stomach bleeding. At last, the effects of Zoloft during pregnancy period have not been studied properly, therefore they can be unpredictable. Some patients had serious complications; others even didn't complain about anything. Zoloft is known to appear in breast milk and can influence a baby.

The advantage of Zoloft is that it was specially worked out to help both children and adults. It has safely treated children from 6 to 17. It had a negative moment as well. Like any kind of antidepressants Zoloft may increase the risk of suicide thoughts. In such a situation there can only be one advice: relatives ought to become more caring and attentive to the treated family member.
